Our Experience
Clarke Street Classic Car Show
Delivering the first car show meant taking the Implementation Plan off the page and putting it into action. This involved coordinating with traders, car owners, and stakeholders to create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable event. It also required identifying and managing suppliers, procuring materials and services, and setting up partnerships to support future shows.
2023 | Brimbank City Council
Outcomes
The Clarke Street Classic Car Show successfully attracted a wide range of visitors, strengthening community bonds and boosting the local economy. Local businesses saw increased foot traffic, and the event showcased Sunshine’s vibrant culture, repositioning it as an inviting destination.
The Clarke Street Classic Car Show was a strategic initiative led by Brimbank City Council, in collaboration with Localite and the Road Kings Motorcycle and Car Club. Debuting in July 2023, the event transformed an underused car park in Sunshine into a vibrant community gathering, with classic cars as the main attraction. The Car Show had three key objectives: fostering local connections, attracting visitors, and showcasing the unique character of Clarke Street and Sunshine. The event aimed to boost local businesses and reposition Sunshine as a dynamic and inviting destination.
The Challenge
What We Did
Localite worked closely with Brimbank City Council and the local Car Club to deliver the inaugural Clarke Street Classic Car Show. Our role included:
Identifying, sourcing, and procuring suppliers for infrastructure, entertainment, and event services.
Coordinating all stakeholders, including local businesses and government agencies.
Supporting site layout design, traffic management planning, and operational logistics.
Engaging traders and helping them prepare to make the most of increased foot traffic.
Shaping a family-friendly program with live music, activities, and food offerings.
Greening The Pipeline
The event needed to carefully balance a day of celebrations and activities while also preserving the integrity of the site by minimising any potential environmental impacts as a result of the event. The team had to manage risks associated with weather, grass preservation, site access, vendor coordination, and live event logistics. A key challenge that arose was the postponement of the event just a couple weeks out of original date due to the condition of the site, specifically the grass. This required flexibility across all stakeholders, ensuring confidence that the event would still go ahead, and making sure the site was in the right condition for it to go ahead on the newly proposed date - which had a hard deadline due to its proximity to Easter and Daylight Savings. Additionally, working with a defined budget that had moving parts added further layers of complexity, making clear communication and coordination essential to the events success.
2023 | Wyndham City Council
Outcomes
The event successfully welcomed the Greening the Pipeline project to the community, with strong positive engagement and feedback from community and Council members throughout the day. Despite the challenges of hosting an event on open parkland, the event ran smoothly thanks to detailed planning and on-the-ground coordination. The site was preserved, and the space was brought to life by the community. The day helped cement the site’s role as a community gathering place and reinforced Wyndham City’s, and Localite’s, commitment to creating connected, creative, and welcoming spaces.
Wyndham City Council is celebrating the official opening of the first stage of the “Greening the Pipeline” Project - Zone 5 west. This project is transforming 27kms of heritage-listed Main Outfall Sewer into a linear parkland, and a more enjoyable space for Melbourne’s growing west. To celebrate, community members are invited to join a free outdoor event featuring live music, family-friendly activities, and food and drink-trucks. Localite was engaged to design, coordinate, and deliver this event to activate the new space and connect the local community.
The Challenge
What We Did
Localite curated, and delivered, a 4-hour programme of live entertainment, food and drink trucks, and family-friendly activities. The event featured 3 live music acts, including local emerging artists and professional performers, a 9-hole portable putt-putt course, face painting, glitter tattoos, a variety of food trucks, a Traditional Smoking Ceremony provided by Aboriginal Elder, and speeches from local Councilors and the artist from Deakin University responsible who designed a piece of public art at the site. Localite oversaw all vendor and site logistics, including artists, food and drink trucks, staging, traffic management, bicycle parking, security, waste, water, toilets, and power. Additionally, Localite coordinated the design of Wyndham City Council branded picnic rugs that attendees were encouraged to use during the event, and take home.
Discover Avondale Heights
Avondale Heights suffers from many of the issues that older, smaller suburbs have, such as aging infrastructure and feeling like a forgotten suburb amidst neighbouring suburbs like Moonee Ponds and Sunshine. Highlighting Avondale Heights’ own identity was crucial for this event to succeed, so we had to ensure that it felt both local and vibrant.
2025 | Moonee Valley City Council
Outcomes
Over 800 people attended the event, and we received positive feedback from council staff, vendors and people who attended the event. The event was incredibly successful, with people engaging with their local amenities and enjoying the natural area, children were entertained by activities such as martial arts and soccer. We have received requests to do it again in 2026
Moonee Valley City Council engaged Localite and CoFutures to plan an event in Avondale Heights as part of the Reimagine Avondale Heights project to highlight the suburb’s facilities, amenities and community groups. The event had local vendors selling food, local live music and performances, and a range of activities for young and old alike.
The Challenge
What We Did
We engaged with as many local community groups as we could, ranging from sports and fitness groups, to rotary clubs and the air league. We made sure to use local talent on the stage and local food as well. By utilising Avondale Heights Reserve as a location, we were able to highlight the beautiful natural assets in Avondale Heights while also making the event a celebration of the local community.
Alfrieda Street Masterplan Community Engagement
The primary challenge was to create a program that could simultaneously engage a diverse group of people while gathering meaningful input for the consultation process. The event also had to navigate unpredictable weather, logistical challenges, and ensure no disruption to vehicular traffic. Additionally, the activations had to balance being a vibrant street party while maintaining focus on the community consultation.
2025 | Brimbank City Council
Outcomes
The community activations were a resounding success, with significant participation across all three days. The event created a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged locals to interact with the consultation process. Feedback collected was extensive, providing valuable insights for the future of Alfrieda Street. Full results will be shared by Brimbank City Council at YourSay Brimbank.
Brimbank City Council is upgrading the streetscape of Alfrieda Street, a commercial hub in St. Albans, as part of a larger masterplan. Localite was engaged to design and deliver activations for the community consultation phase of this project. The goal was to create an inclusive, fun environment where locals and visitors could provide feedback on the future vision for the area.
The Challenge
What We Did
Localite designed and delivered a tiered 10-hour program across three days, with activities ranging from live music performances to interactive art and entertainment. The event featured local Victorian artists, face painting, bubble shows, chalk art, and a bouncy castle. The entertainment was staggered throughout the day to keep engagement high and ensure there was always something happening to draw people in. Localite handled all coordination, including risk management, liaising with artists, and adapting to logistical challenges on the day.

Suffolk Road Streetscape Upgrade Grant Application, Sunshine North, 2022
Role: Grant application writing & concept Illustration. The Suffolk Road Streetscape Upgrade aimed to revitalise a small suburban shopping strip in Sunshine North by improving public amenities, fostering local businesses, and promoting pedestrian safety. A grant application was crafted to seek funding for these streetscape enhancements, influenced by the successful Sunshine West 20-minute Neighbourhood pilot program.
Previous community engagement had identified challenges such as car-dominated environments, lack of greenery, and neglected shopfronts. In response, Council trialled temporary improvements like street beautification and outdoor dining extensions, receiving positive feedback from traders. The grant application proposed permanent improvements like wider footpaths, improved cycling infrastructure, and a greener street environment.
The project was awarded a Living Local Grant of $200,000 from the state government, with Brimbank City Council leading the final design and implementation. Localite's role was pivotal in securing these funds through the grant application and concept design stages.

Glengala Village, Sunshine West, 2021
Brimbank City Council
Role: Planning, design and delivery (while employed at Council)As part of the 20-minute neighbourhood pilot program, the project employed tactical urbanism to boost local identity, support businesses, and enhance public spaces. Key interventions included street greening with new planters and trees, the introduction of a pop-up park and an outdoor dining parklet, shopfront renewals, and an 80m road mural that breathes life into the precinct.
The project’s success stemmed from the collaborative process involving local traders, who actively participated in choosing the mural design and shaping the area's new look. The Glengala Road project also echoed the broader objectives of the Council's COVID response, seeking a swift recovery for local town centres in the face of the pandemic.
Fast forward to 2023, the principles tested during this pilot project are being integrated into a permanent street redesign. This exciting development exemplifies the transformative power of tactical urbanism, proving its capability to inspire meaningful and long-lasting changes in urban landscapes. The re-imagination of Glengala Village is a testament to the community's resilience.

Dickens Street Pop-Up Park, Balaclava, 2023
Role: Concept design (while employed at Council)Dickens Street Pop-Up Park is a vibrant public space transformation in Balaclava. The City of Port Phillip delivered the project through its Economic Growth and Activation Team.
The project involved converting 10 underutilised parking spaces into a colourful and versatile public space featuring plantings, artistic elements, bicycle racks, additional seating, and a basketball hoop. The pop-up park significantly enhanced the area's look and feel, adding colour and fun to the streetscape.
Developed through consultation and with the support of the nearby St Kilda Primary School, the project highlights the value of community collaboration in public space creation, particularly in an area identified as one with the lowest amount of open space (5% compared to a municipal average of 17%).

Summer Sessions 2022-23
City of Port Phillip
Role: Curation and coordination (While employed at Council)The 'Summer Sessions 2022-23' was an expansive activation program delivered by Council and designed to enliven the city, celebrate the local community and enhance the experience at the many local shopping hubs across the City of Port Phillip.
From December to March, approximately 100 live performances brought vibrancy and life to public spaces, simultaneously supporting local artists and businesses.
The artist lineup was a proud representation of cultural diversity, with more than 50% of the participating artists being of First Nations origin. Further emphasising local talent, over 75% of Summer Session artists were local to Port Phillip, many selected from the evergrowing Live N Local Featured Artist Database.
From the bubbling opening at Acland Plaza, graced by the likes of Darren Clinch, Canisha C-K, Mexbourne, and the whimsical Dr Hubble, to performances scattered across Albert Park, South Melbourne, Ripponlea, Elwood, Fitzroy Street (St Kilda), and Port Melbourne, the program invigorated public spaces and provided a platform for local artists.
The 'Summer Sessions' provided a substantial boost to local musicians and artists, attracting additional foot traffic to local traders, and enhancing the city's social fabric and local economy.
